SSL/TLS Support (https://)
SSL/TLS support is now available!
The web interface for the SMS gateway component
can be configured to accept SSL/TLS connections.
Clients can now use https:// when connecting to the
NowSMS server to submit messages.
The SMPP server component can accept SMPP over
SSL/TLS connections. Additionally, when connecting
to an SMPP-based SMSC (such as another NowSMS
server), NowSMS can now use SMPP over SSL/TLS.
There is a checkbox for specifying that SSL/TLS
should be used in the dialog where SMPP SMSC
connections are defined.
When connecting to an HTTP-based SMSC, NowSMS
can now use SSL/TLS. There is a checkbox for
specifying that SSL/TLS should be used in the dialog
where HTTP SMSC connections are defined.
An additional setting is defined on the "MMSC" page
of the configuration dialog for specifying the HTTPS
port number for the MMSC. The MMSC will accept
MM1 client connections, or MM7/MM1/EAIF VASP
connections on this port. Please note that it is not
possible to force MM1 or EAIF connections to use
SSL/TLS. A setting is provided to require that MM7
VASP connections use SSL/TLS to connect.
When defining a connection to an external MMSC
using EAIF or MM7, it is possible to specify an
https:// based URL in the "Server Address" field.

Web Interface for User Provisioning |
|
An administative web interface has been added for
provisioning accounts of the "SMS Users" and "MMSC
Users" types. Accounts can be created, modified
and deleted through the web interface, including
support for adding and deleting credits.
In addition to a menu driven web interface for user
account provisioning, a clearly defined HTTP
interface has been defined to allow external entities
to perform this provisioning.

HTTP Proxy Support for Operator MMSC Connections |
|
MMS connections to an operator MMSC over GPRS
can now support HTTP proxies in addition to WAP
proxies. This is an important feature for users
wishing to send MMS messages to an MMSC over one
of the "3" subsidiaries where WAP proxies are not
installed. (In fact, it is probably not appropriate to
refer to this as an "over GPRS" feature, as this
capability can be used with 3G modems.)

WAP Push "Unknown Sender" |
|
Have you faced the problem where your WAP Push or
OTA configuration message displays "Unknown
Sender"? While this occurrence does not result in a
loss of functionality, it does appear less that
professional.
NowSMS v5.51 now includes the ability to specify
the initiator URI, which some phones will display as
the sender of WAP push or OTA configuration
messages.

Multimedia WAP Push Templates |
|
You told us that you needed more options to better
control Multimedia WAP Push messages generated by
NowSMS. In addition to options that allow you to
customise prompts to your local language, we now
allow complete control over the template that is used
to generate the Multimedia WAP Push message.
You can even install multiple templates on a single
NowSMS server, and specify which template is to be
used when you submit a message.

Ericsson MM7 Operator MMSC Connections |
|
MM7 is an MMS standard for application to person
MMS message submission, which is clearly defined by
the 3GPP.
However, instead of following the 3GPP specifications
for MM7, Ericsson implemented their own proprietary
version of MM7 which is considerably different from,
and incompatible with the 3GPP definition of MM7.
You'd be surprised how many mobile operators are
using the Ericsson MMSC. And many of these mobile
operators are surprised when they find out that the
Ericsson MM7 implementation is completely non-
standard.
NowSMS now supports this Ericsson proprietary
"MM7-like" protocol, making it easier to connect to
operator MMSC services.

Premium Rate MMS |
|
Speaking of operator MMSC connections, NowSMS
supports the ability to set the reverse charging
headers for sending premium rate MMS messages
through an EAIF connection to a Nokia MMSC, or
through Ericsson's proprietary variation of MM7.
(See there is something positive about Ericsson's
proprietary MM7 implementation!)
We've also added support for setting the
ServiceCode parameter for standard MM7
connections, which is sometimes used to specify
billing options for some operator MMSC connections.

Dynamic MMS Routing Callback |
|
A dynamic routing callback has been added for
routing MMS messages. Before NowSMS routes an
MMS message, it can issue an HTTP callback with
the recipient phone number to query how the
message should be routed. This callback can be
used to optimize MMS message delivery in
environments with number portability.
