Dears, I already added several questions on the nowsms discussion board, but without any reply. we have a licensed nowsms version 09.03.2006 and we are planning to let it work as MMSC. Please find the steps that I already did to try to send an MMS notification to my mobile: 1. Activate MMSC service 2. HTTP port number: 8181 3. SMTP port number: 25 4. P address: (all available) 5. Local host name or IP address: 78.136.31.86 (which is the server’s real IP) On the handset side, I did the following: 1. Added new Access point: Nowsms 2. Data bearer: packet data 3. Access point name: 78.136.31.86 4. Username and password: none 5. Authentication: normal Now I tried to send MMS notification thru the nowsms to my device: I opened the nowsms web interface and entered my phone number, a sender name, and the link which is the path of the mp3 file located in the wwwroot. I received the following error: unable to fetch URL for MMS using nowsms. Can you please help me fix this issue?

It sounds like NowSMS was not able to fetch the URL that you gave it. Make sure that the URL is valid (and it needs to be an http:// format URL, it can't be a file:// URL). It also sounds like you are trying to use the "Send MMS Notification" web page ... which requires a pre-compiled MMS message in the URL. You probably want to use "Send MMS Message" instead. |

Hi Kamel, It is likely that your mobile operator does not allow "Direct Delivery" from external MMSCs. See http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm for an overview of how MMS works, and why this is an issue. Basically, the alternative is to use a GSM/GPRS modem, and configure NowSMS to send MMS messages via the operator MMSC. The above link will have some more information about how to configure this ... it involves defining a link under "MMSC Routing". -bn |
