Is a WAP Gateway really required when subscribers use WAP 2.0 phones?
I understand that the WAP gateway provides caching, cookie management etc. and maybe reduce radio bandwidth requirements. But does the operator really save that much radio resources to justify the investment in a WAP Gateway for WAP 2.0?
What are the other benefits with using WAP 2.0 - is the user experience better because of the encoding used in WAP and the resulting savings in radio bandwidth and time taken to send messages over the air?
