Hey all. I bought a u8120 which is usually on the '3' network for use with my 'orange' pay monthly sim. It is unlocked and I have configured the settings, however I still can not connect to the internet, send photo messages etc. When the phone tries to connect to the internet I get the message 'Access to requested URL is barred'. I read somewhere that the phone hardware settings need to be changed, is this true? How can I do this?

Hi, di anyone make progress on this. I have managed to get Internet connection working on a O2 PayandGo SIM and can receive MMS messages but attempts to send MMS messages time out after about 2 minutes with the message 'Failed to Connect'. O2 Shop and Support Helpline both tried hard to help. Any suggestions very welcome.
Cheers

For those with an unlocked LG u8120 - you cannot use MMS - that is send or receive pictures - if you have an Orange SIM card in the phone because it is a 3 handset. I have tried everything and phoned everyone and it is just not possible even if you change the settings and APN.

I spent a near fortune on my u8120 and cant use it on orange coz they dont do the phone! there should be a manual way of setting it up coz i noticed that all u need for mms setup is a NUMBER! the internet is a bit more complicated (orange world at least) and i cant get on that EITHER! any help posted here will be totally appreciated. THANX

If you are using an lg 8120 you can contact orange customer services and ask them for manual wap settings and they'll help you set it up.

Or, you could try these instructions (they worked fine for me):
->Press menu and go to browser
->Go to settings
->Hit profile
->Options and 'Add new'
->Fill out the settings like this:

Service name: Orange wap
Homepage: http://orange.multimedia/
Connection mode: UDP(C0)
IP address: 192.168.071.035
Proxy server port: you shouldn't be able to edit this anyway but it should be 0000
Security: NonSecure
Timeout (10-600): 150

At the very end of this screen you should see Access point. You will need to hit list, go to options and select 'Add new'.
Connection Title: ORANGE UMTS WAP
Bearer: GPRS
Username: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)
APN: orangewap

->Hit done.
->Select your newly created access point and hit OK
You should be back at the profile edit screen. Hit OK, you should be told its saved.
You will now be back at the Settings menu. Select 'orange wap' and hit OK. It should say 'selected' and you will now be able to use your WAP browser.
Other network users should be able to set up their wap settings in exactly the same way but you will need to contact your network and ask them for the manual wap settings. They may not have them for your exact handset (as it is 3 network only) but they will give you something close which you can insert using the directions above.

Unfortunately, the mms settings on the lg u8120 are inbuilt and it is almost impossible to set it up for picture messaging.

The lg u8330 can be used for mms on other networks but you need to contact the 02 network and ask them for settings.

Hope that helped. Feel free to mail me if these instructions don't work or you are having problems with them.

Hi, i have managed to get my LG u8110 working with GPRS and can browse and all that but I just can't seem to get it to send an MMS :-( It starts to send and then depending on size fails with an errors "unable to connect..." It always gets to the same % but if a smaller file is attached it will go a bit higher but still fail! Does anybody have any ideas?

Im on O2 and I think I have all the settings correct (same as above)

Thanks in advance

Never mind I totally got it working HOORAY! the info above defo works! i see some people have been having problems with this phone for a long time, dono if they are just doing it wrong or perhaps some of the phones just don't work properly... I do remember when I took my phone in to be unlocked they told me that some of the phones come back as bricks?!?! All I can say is that it works on my phone ;)

I've finally got my U8110 working with MMS on the o2 network and what a pain it was. I had all the settings setup correctly as noted above, but I was getting "Connection failed, retry?" almost immediately after send/retrieve. Even after a few long chats with the o2 staff, no joy.

The problem was in the Access Points (menu)->Settings(9)->Access Points(5)

I had two separate access points in here, as I decided to keep the old 3 one just in case I ever needed to go back there. As that was never going to happen, I thought I'd overwrite their settings with the o2 ones. Worked first time. I remembered reading something about a bug in this phone, even though you’d chosen one option it would still be using the original one. Anyway that’s the workaround for the bug.

The software version is, U8110_v100+_Apr 19

Fallon, overwriting the 3 access point allowed MMS to work on my LG handset too - how odd! Thanks :-)

Nope, it just now hangs at 99% for a few minutes before failing, instead of failing straight away

I used all the settings mentioned in James Lynches post on my LG U8360 which was an unlocked 3 phone and it worked fine. Don't forget to switch the phone off and re-start for the settings to work - mine didn't work until I did this. I now have MMS and Web Browsing (which is a bit silly on the tiny screen and I guess really expensive).

I too deleted the od 3 settings but I think the re-start does the trick.

Access point settings are as follows for my LGU8360.

MENU>SETTINGS>ACCESS POINT

Connection Title: O2 MMS

Bearer: GPRS

Username: payandgo

Password: password

APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk

LG KE970 SHINE T-mobile USA MMS settings:

Follow these steps to manually set up your KE970 to send/receive MMS messages, if you are lazy skip to the bottom for a link which will do it aumatically for you :

FIRST Go to
Menu->Settings->Connectivity->Network->Network profile->Data connections
or
Menu->9->4->2->3->1

Select "Add New profile"

Enter these settings
Name: MMSconn
Bearer: GPRS
APN: wap.voicestream.com
User ID: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Primary server: 000.000.000.000
Secondary server: 000.000.000.000

Save the profile

SECOND Go to
Menu->Messaging->Settings->Multimedia message->Network profile
or
Menu->5->0->2->8

Select "Add"

Enter these settings
Profile name: MMS
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Internet mode: HTTP
Proxy IP: 216.155.165.050
Proxy port: 8080
Connection: MMSconn

(Connection is the name of the network profile you set up earlier)

Save settings and turn your phone off/on

Try downloading a picture message it should work with these settings, if it still doesn't work (which happened to me) then call T-mobile service center "611". After I called them they told me that there was a block on my sim card which disabled network traffic, after they removed it, I turned my phone off and when it re-connected I was able to receive MMS. The "Receive failed!" message was starting to piss me off, it was a relief to watch it download a msg.

The lazy way:
Go to:
http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/phonefirst

Manufacturer: LG
Model: KG800

(KE970 is not in the list, the model # above is LG chocolate, I tried it and it configured everything properly on my KE970)

Click "Sumbit" and follow instructions, in a few seconds your phone will be configured. With all the time you saved make sure you remember to send your mother a nice MMS on mothers day!!

Enjoy!

The question you are asking about voicemail would depend on your mobile operator (it is a feature of the mobile operator, not the phone).

Look for information on the mobile operator's web site regarding voice mail setup. And if all else fails, contact their customer service ...
