hi everyone.. i need some help..can anyone tell me is it possible for us to detect location of the sender when they send sms?? if it is possible..how to implement it?  | |||

In a word, no. What is possible ... is, after receiving the message, querying the operator network to find the cell tower with which the sending device is registered. Obviously there are serious privacy concerns associated with being able to query such information from a mobile operator network. You'll want to research the availability of "location based services" in the country for which you are designing your application to see what options are available to you. -- Des NowSMS Support | |||

i have read some journal that they use cell id to detect location of the user. but the application is on the phone itself. so im curious here, is it mean in my case there is no such thing for me to detect the cell id of sms sender when they send sms? really need help for my project.  | |||

Correct. From an SMS alone, you cannot ... unless you have access to a location based service that allows you to query after you receive the message. The location based service would query the operator network to determine the cell id. Due to privacy concerns (and laws that vary from country to country), access to this type of location based service tends to be extremely restricted. | |||
