Hi, I am US based, and very much considering getting the Multi-Tech Multimodem (MTCBA-G-UF2) external modem (USB) for use with Now.SMS Can anyone confirm that this modem, running on a Cingular or T-mobile SIM will allow for 2-way SMS, 1-way Wap-Push and 2-way MMS. I reallly don't want to waste $200 Finally, as this is a USB device, can Now.SMS support more than a single Multimodem per PC? Your kind responses are much appreciated |

Hi Shane, That modem will work. I can't comment on wheter or not there are any issues with running multiple modems on the same PC, as that is really an issue for the modem driver. (I wouldn't expect it to be a problem.) 2-way SMS is fine. WAP Push will only work when sending to a subscriber on the same mobile operator. (This is a USA limitation on the type of SMS interconnections, not a limitation of the modem or NowSMS.) 2-way MMS will work. However, you'll want to configure NowSMS to send/receive MMS via an operator MMSC in order to take advantage of operator MMS interconnections in the USA (where I believe Cingular has interconnection agreements with more operators than T-Mobile, but I have not seen a detailed list of what agreements exist). -bn |
