Hi, when i send a message containing a german umlauts (äüö), i just receive strange characters (for ex. "A?"). is there a way of sending them correctly without activating unicode? what is the default charset that is used from nowsms gateway when sending sms? does nowsms create a own udh? is it possible to change the charset in the udh? i currently use clickatell via http.

Hi Brandon, This question is specific to Clickatell, and HTTP interfaces. By default, NowSMS uses the UTF-8 character set when interfacing to HTTP services. I'm not sure if there is any well to indicate the character set when interfacing to Clickatell ... but there is a way to tell NowSMS to use a different character set when interfacing to an HTTP SMSC. This requires that you manually edit the SMSGW.INI file, and under the appropriate [HTTP - server:port] header, add Charset=xxxxx, where xxxxx is the character set that you want to use. I'd recommend trying iso-8859-1 as the character set (ANSI standard Western European character set). -bn |
