If I want to send/receive SMS, is this process correct? : buy a GSM modem, sign up for GPRS in a US carrier (cingular or tmobile), use that to send/receive SMS?

Does that mean users be sending a SMS message to the phone number of that modem?

If that's the case, can users also email text messages to that modem? (1234567890@tmomail.net)? That also means anybody can forge the sender by simply changing the reply-to field in any email program? Is there anyway to detect this?

Thanks!
