Hi,
Im using 2G Telstra sim card here in Australia. If a use this sim on my N70 phone to send MMS it work fine. I can receive the MMS okay. But if I use this same SIM card on my Wavecom fastrack supreme modem and use Nowsms to send mms, it does not work. Do I use the "Send Multimedia Message" or "Send MMS message" in sending out MMS? What is the diffence between the two? Pls note also that I can received an MMS fine on NowSMS using the same Wavecom fastrack supreme. It is only the sending out an MMS that Im having problem with.

Hi,

You would use the "Send MMS Message" form. (The other one builds a mobile web page on the NowSMS server and sends either a WAP push or SMS text message linking to that page. The recipient then retrieves the content via the browser on the phone instead of the MMS client.)

I assume the "test connection" worked ok?

Is "telstra" set as the default route on the "MMSC Routing" page?

Is the "MMSC Users" list blank? (If not, the MMSC will try to perform direct delivery to any phone numbers in this list.)

If you're still stuck, enable the MMSCDEBUG.LOG and MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG ... try sending again, and post those files.

E-Mail setup is a little complicated.

Define e-mail domain names on the "MMSC" page for both SMS and MMS.

For SMS, define a 2-way command of mailto:user@domain

For MMS, under the "Properties" of the modem in the "SMSC" list, define the "Receive MMS Settings", and one of the options is to forward the message to an e-mail address.

By default, NowSMS will try to act as an SMTP smart mailer, and perform DNS lookups to do the e-mail delivery. Spam filters will block this in many configurations. To use an SMTP relay host instead, on the MMSC page, uncheck "Enable SMTP Smart Mailer", and define an "SMTP Relay Host". NowSMS will then send all e-mail messages via that relay host. (Enable the MMSCDEBUG.LOG if you need to troubleshoot the e-mail connection, as SMTP transactions will be logged there.)

Hi Des,
1.The test connection worked OK on my system
2.Telstra is set as my Default Route on my MMSC routing.
3.MMSC User is blank.

I notice on my Service tab everytime I do send an MMS, Im getting "SMSC/MMSC Status : Error" and Modem busy or Unavailable

I have attached my debug file and the screen shots of my configuration.

MMSCDEBUG 04Aug2009.txt (2068.0 k)

Hi powertec,

Can you try a smaller message?

The size limit varies, but a lot of provider WAP gateways choke when the content is larger than approximately 250KB.

(We should put in a size restriction or automatically scale it down.)

If you know the WAP2/HTTP port for their MMSC's WAP gateway, you could use that instead, as they generally have much higher size limits.

Try changing the "WAP Gateway IP Address" setting to http://10.1.1.180:80 (include the HTTP prefix, as this indicates the proxy type).

And try changing the MMSC Server Address to http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002

I think the settings that you are using would be ok ... there's just the size limit issue that varies between providers on the WAP1/WSP interface.

thanks Des!
Sending MMS is now working after doing that changes.

If you can also help me in setting up an email alert and setting up on how to send/receive SMS and MMS via Email that would be great.
