Define a 2-way command so that received messages are routed to a command that you defined. Messages are converted when they are routed to a 2-way command.

Perhaps I should ask ... are you a software developer/web developer, or are you simply an end-user?

If you are not a software developer/web developer, NowSMS is not really designed for you. NowSMS is middleware software that is designed to be used by developers as part of an overall solution.

If you just want to see received messages and verify that the text encoding is correct, then in the NowSMS 2007 release (which was just published this week, so you might want to download an update), there is a "View" button on the "2-way" page of the NowSMS configuration dialog which will display information about received messages ... and should display the correct characters for any Unicode based language.

But I am assuming that you are a developer ... and you want to do something with the messages that you receive. You want to process them in your application and take some action based upon the receipt of the message.

That is where the 2-way command feature of NowSMS comes in.

When an SMS message is received, NowSMS will evaluate the content of the message, and can either execute a program, or connect to an HTTP URL (e.g., web script), based upon the content of the message. These programs or HTTP URLs are called "2-way" commands in NowSMS.

This link explains the "2-way" configuration page in NowSMS:

http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/2_way_sms_support.htm

And this link provides some examples ... focusing primarily on PHP (but with some limited ASP and VBScript examples):

Hi !

I don't know why u r giving me the same documentation every time, dear i am able to use 2 way command, what i want is to you is whenever i recive message in english i am able to read that in log file but when the message is in some other language i am able to see the binary form of that particular message. now my question is to you is that how i will convert that binary form again in text. secondly if there is no solution to convert that binary form into text then i want that the recieved messages remain stored in my mobile which is not happening now because of its connectivity with now sms moreover my mobile has capacity of storing 2000 sms and i am able to read messages in 6 languages in my mobile.

I am sorry.

I am giving you the same documentation links every time because you do not appear to be reading them.

I believe that we are having extreme difficulty communicating.

You appear to be reading message details from the SMSIN-yyyymmdd.LOG.

That log file is not part of the 2-way command interface. In fact, I do not think you will find that log file referenced at all in either of the links that I keep directing you to.

You do raise a good point. It would be nice if the SMSIN log showed the non-English text, but it does not.

If you actually defined a 2-way command, then that command would be receiving the properly decoded other language text.

Based upon our discussions here, I am not sure that NowSMS is the right solution for you. (I may be wrong, but I think you are more of an end-user than a software developer/web developer.) But if you just want to have received messages written to a text file, then the following link might be helpful to you:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/333.html

(It is referenced by one of the links I keep directing you to, http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/4520.html.)

Anyway, the example 2-way command in http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/333.html is a command-line Windows VBscript. When NowSMS calls that script, the script just writes the received message details to a text file.
